Well done to Esme O’Connell for another great result – this time at the World Indoor Tour in Birmingham. The commentators for the 60m final were convinced this would be a tussle between Faye Olszowka and Ali Smith and focused all their attention there. Esme, however, had other ideas. Starting to the right of the two favourites she got off to a flying start and a good lead over Smith. Whilst Olszowka was never troubled for gold, Esme fought hard and kept the narrowest of leads over Ali Smith to claim a well-deserved silver with a new PB. Well done Esme, looking forward to what you will bring on next!!
